Once a year Riverstone Kitchen (Otago, New Zealand) holds a dinner where the food on the menu matches the beer being served. This year the craft beer being showcased was from our very own Craftwork Brewery. There were 6 courses and each one was introduced by either Bevan Smith - the head chef and owner of Riverstone, Lee-Ann Scotti - Head brewer at Craftwork, Michael O'Brien - 2IC and 1ted&ting and Craftwork, or Jess Herman - a local brewer who has collaborated with Craftwork and who has been brewing at the Craftwork HQ. All spoke very well and we got a lot of interesting information about each beer as we were sampling it.
I know the whole point of the evening was to be drinking beer that matched the food I was eating, but I was totally surprised and impressed by how perfect the matches were. It. Was. Fantastic.
If you are in the area in September next year make sure you get a ticket to this night before they sell out!
(Riverstone is also excellent at catering to dietary requirements, they even printed special menus for the three vegetarians among the 110 guests, and there was a gluten free menu also)
I used my usual sony NEX-5T, but the lighting was very low so the image quality is a bit grainy sorry!

This is not an ad for Riverstone Kitchen or Craftwork Brewery,
and all opinions are my own

Fantastic photos Gamel and it looked like a packed house , great advertising for Craftwork !
ReplyDeleteWell, it's a very good substitute for an advertisement for Craftwork and Riverstone. And why not? My experience of both is limited but we do appear to have something going for North Otago - again (at last)
