We went exploring today to Tunnel Beach. I didn't bring my camera with me for some strange unknown reason, so here are a few shots taken with our phone cameras. (Apologies for the image quality!)

And finally Sunday rolled around, and i had just one hour to see the Fete before returning to work. Here are a few quick snaps.

Victorian Heritage Celebrations | Friday
Oamaru's Victorian Heritage Celebrations are, for me, not a celebration of outdated beliefs, but rather an appreciation of beauty from the past.
It's the celebration of the very best of what has been, and a way to remember this beauty as we head into the future.
For this reason i do not understand those who have a dislike for 'dressing up in old embarrassing clothes and hanging around with those weirdos in the old part of town' because if you cant appreciate how people used to live, then you don't deserve the privilege of modern day comforts.
Be grateful for all our ancestors have worked for and achieved, and enjoy the (relatively) easy life we live now.

My grandmother Marie lives in a cottage without power. She says that the most mundane questions, such as 'how do you live with no power?" can sometimes spark the most interesting conversations. Her house is truly beautiful, but for now here is her cat and her garden.
