HonestBrew Pop-Up @ Old street Station

.

Old Street Station is not just a train station. It is home to some of East London's most enterprising small business pop-up shops, who set up for a few days or weeks because of the diversity of the foot traffic. From party animals to artists, students and businessmen, Old Street is the place where the Northern Line meets East London.

.

One such pop-up was the HonestBrew bar and bottle store, which was open from the 5th to the 17th of this month. Yep, that's right you've just missed it, but luckily for me, I made it in for a tasting thanks to my lovely friend Olivia who had won two tickets!

Rather regretfully (but not ashamedly),  I don't claim to be an expert on any sort of beer related matters, but I do know a few basics, and although I wont be giving detailed descriptions of each beer, I will say that I had a wonderful time and that is really the reason why beer is brewed and consumed by expert craft brewers - to be enjoyed and puzzled-over by not so expert drinkers...

.
Before the tasting we tried the >>Brew By Numbers<< beers on tap. Olivia got the 05|11 India Pale Ale, and I got the 21|11 Pale Ale.

.

Our tasting was hosted by Cormac from >>HonestBrew<<, a collective here in London who usually operate online, stocking over 300 different craft beers from all around the world.

.
#1 Inhaler Juicy Pale Ale from >>Magic Rock Brewing<<
A pale ale/IPA hybrid using a mixture of hops including amarillo and mosaic.

.
#2 Nomi Sorachi from >>Wylam Brewery<<
This single hopped brew uses only sorachi hops.

.
#3 Salty Kiss again from Magic Rock Brewing
A sour beer from their core list, this one is refreshing and tangy.

.
#4 Rex Attitude from >>Yeastie Boys<<
A smokey amber ale, the first beer to be made with 100% peated malt.

 .

.
After drinking all that we couldn't possibly drink another drop, but there were so many more magical and mythical looking beverages there up for consumption. Check them out online if you're in the mood for some craft beer experimentation.
